If you keep up with me on this little blog, you know that I adore all things French and that I’m a little A LOT obsessed with Julia Child. When I found out that La Pitchoune was offering virtual cooking class and it was on making laminated pasta, I made sure that my family, my fellow cooking friend Kendra and my friend in Provence knew about it. I bought the ingredients and cleared the counter.
Makenna, the virtual host and co-owner of La Pitchoune (nicknamed it “La Peetch”) is someone I’d like to be friends with. She has such a relaxed no fuss presence and a what the hell attitude…like Julia! She mentioned during the class while she answered cooking questions on FB live that her child was watching Paddington in the next room, you could hear the heavy rain that they were getting in Provence and she was simply making dinner in the former vacation home of Julia Child…you could feel the energy all the way to Texas!
I knew she was my kind of girl when her instagram account read “bring a mimosa or kombucha of choice, and cook with us” …IN JULIA CHILD’S FAMOUS PEGBOARD KITCHEN!!
This live class was on a dill laminated homemade pasta and cream mushroom sauce. You didn’t have to have a machine…this is what I mean when I say Makenna is no fuss!
My daughter and I have made pasta before and she jumped at the chance to mix and laminate! Our whole family got involved and were enjoying being part of this process together. The entire experience was fabulous! Merci Makenna!
I’m joining the courageous online cooking school to do more live cook-a-longs that are recipe-free and no fuss. Someday, I will go to LaPeetch and meet Makenna. I feel connected to her through Julia and through food. Until then, I look forward to more virtual classes. Bon appetit!
